“Smile, the hard part is over”

“Smile, the hard part is over” - that reminds me a gentleman who was left him out of NDIS funding supports due to his lack of language and network. Arnold (name unidentified) is a Sudanese living in spinal injury after failure of his surgery and has been living in ill-health for few years. You could imagine how far he has come and seeking for equality in achieving his daily life as well as his health outcomes.

Two years ago he attempted to access to NDIS unfortunately he has submitted those hospital documents that was largely mentioned his appeal case in which was not relevant. NDIS sent few more correspondence requesting him to provide more evidence but he fails to do so, simply his inability of English that left him unable to comprehensive those wordings. Somewhat he has got a Sudanese elderly’s support and has recently reached out to us. Our NDIS Support Coordinator has been assisting Arnold to re-open his case, navigate him with all the evidence required. Today, we are confident that he would be accepted to roll in the scheme.

At the end of the meeting today, I shared this quote “Smile, the hard part is over”. He has beaming smile. That’s priceless.
